I am sure that he is thinking that suddenly this was perhaps not the brightest idea.

finding out a heroes limits the hard way is not recommended in the villain hand book!

I am guessing he does not own one? :)

If he does it's probably out of date. ;)

He did knock a few strands of hair out of place, so...that's...something?

Striking a minor girl like that, what is he, a child abuser?

How many bruises can she give him before it's considered "violating his rights?" If she hits him and breaks a nose or eye socket, would that be acceptable? I sure do hope the Spirit of 76 is willing to look the other way on this one...

He should also have a couple of broken hands at this point too. Shall we list all the things he's gonna need somebody else's hands for in the next 3-6 months?

There's nothing for the Spirit of 76 to 'look the other way' on. If she hits him now it is clearly in self defense. Plus he has already stated that the 'way it works' is they fight until one of them wins. So he's clearly not going to just back down. She's tried to get him to do that several times already.

I'll also remind you that the Spirit of 76 didn't bat an eye when Abby punched Homewrecker under much the same conditions (after having been struck repeatedly by Homie).

He hit a girl! He hit a GIRL and over a cape?! The Only time a guy can possibly be justified in hitting a girl is in self defense while getting pummeled and even then he should make every effort to disengage. I mean like if you're getting the crap beat outta you by a drunken Rhonda Rousey type...and yeah it's still better to run away.

So it's OK for him to shoot her with a wrist blaster that can put a hole in a brick wall, or tie her up with an entanglement gun, but punching her is crossing the line?

She's a hero, he's a villain. Heroes and villains punch each other. This is not a boy-girl thing.

LOL point of course. I was just being silly transferring RL into the comic world.

If she is invulnerable and his attack is now shown to be ineffective, is it still self defense? I cannot speak for divine providence but within US law this sort of thing can very complex.

You're over-thinking it.

Liberty Man was in many battles and as hard to hurt as Liberty Lass is. He didn't lose his powers until he killed someone.

They are in battle. She has every right to hit back. She gave him many opportunities to stand down without physical combat and he refused.
