That's gotta hurt...

This panel was actually a lot harder than it looks. It's just the 2 characters rendered against a transparent background, with the sky added later. Such renders are usually quick and painless. But the suit has a bunch of reflective elements and for some reason I kept getting 'fireflies' on Capey. I had to resort to multiple renders and some real post-production trickery to get them to go away (the fireflies). Turned out OK, but it was a lot more work than it should have been. Thanks, iRay!

KA --- WHAM! yeah thats gonna result in some ER care. unless he has a force-field.

(( my champions game was very dark. real world reactions to powers you hit someone with a 60 str and you likely broke something. had a electrical projector use his EB in a underground tunnel that had methane in it. .. it .. wound up blowing crap out of toilets in a entire residential area. heheh.. it was .. amusing.

Also fireflys? I take it this is a iray thing? ( nice camera work and poses! )

Fireflies in unbiased rendering are scattered random pixels that end up being white or yellow or some other color. The renderer is not able to figure out what is supposed to go there.

Usually this can be healed by setting it to just do more iterations, but in this case even 20,000 iterations (the default is like 5,000) and several hours was not sufficient to get rid of them.

I think this was an issue with the older implementation of iRay, or else it had something to do with CH's costume or helmet. I have not had this problem to the degree I had it here, since.

Bye, bye Cape Stealer Guy.

I like the poses and I'm sorry the frame gave you such trouble. I feel I should point out, however, that the smoke is missing. From Cape Hoarder's jet pack.

That's because he's bent so far back that his jet pack exhaust is aimed where the sun don't shine. Now there's a hot tamale!

What, not even a little crack on his expensive helmet? She should break all his toys and make him ride the bus to jail. In his pajamas.

You'll have to wait till the next page to find out exactly how hard she hit him.

That's more like it. What took you so long?

It's about damn time. I've been wanting her to punch him in the nose for awhile now.
Steven-Vincent 13th May 2017, 12:02 AM edit delete reply
Yes she's definitely been extremely patient.

Definitely worth a splash page!

I don't do a lot of them for several reasons, but certain shots seem to warrant it, and this one did, since it is a 'big' punch, as it were.

I played around with the idea of speed lines in this shot but I thought doing a more Epting-stile freeze-frame would work better, and it seems to have.

In fact I have sort of abandoned speed lines in most shots at this point. I will do them on occasion when something really fast is happening, but most of the time I think I prefer the freeze-frame shot. I think it goes better with the 3D CGI artwork.

Doesn't look like he lost any. :)

Not from the picture, but with a hit like that, some are likely to be broken.
