I suspect Abby has used the 'one... TWO...' countdown with her little brother many, many times by this point.

You shouldn't have put that visor on him because I want Abi to punch him right in the nose on 3.

She could still do that. The visor would probably shatter...

*she shatters the visor*
"GRAMPA?!? Is that you?!"

"Whaaa...?? ABBY?! Is that you? YOU'RE Liberty Lass?!?"

"Yes... And, I'm very disappointed in you."

"I'm... I'm so ashamed. I'm sorry, Abby. Here."
*releases cape*

"No, wait... You can have it. I can get another."

"But, I can't steal from my granddaughter!"

"Well, I'm glad that you finally realize that you've been stealing. I'll tell you what, you can buy this one from me, for what it'll cost me to get a new one. You have to promise me, as both Liberty Lass and your granddaughter Abby, that you will never steal another cape. Also, you have to either return your other capes to their rightful owners, or pay them the fair market values. Whichever they choose. It's past the statute of limitations for your previous thefts, so I'm not obligated to turn you in to the authorities, for them."

"Yes, yes I promise. And, I'll give the capes back, or pay."

"I have another idea. Those capes are symbols of the supers that own them. They should be on display where everyone can enjoy them. I think the owners might be willing to lend or donate them to the Museum of Supers, for a display called 'Cape-Hoarded, The Story of Cape-Hoarder's Capers'. A portion of the proceeds would go to the Retired Supers Fund. That way, everyone could enjoy them, not just you."

"That sounds good. And, the end of the story will be that Liberty Lass convinced Cape-Hoarder to give up his life of crime, and make amends for his misdeeds."

"Okay. But promise me you won't tell Mom, Dad, or the cockroach about this."

"Absolutely! I promise! Your parents would flip their lids, if they found out about us."

*shared laughter*

"Okay, let's go. We do need to explain what you were doing at the school, to the authorities."

"Yeah, I know. I messed up big time. I was coveting that cape so much, I didn't think about how bad it was to call you out at a school. If they want to arrest me, that's alright."

"I'll explain that the kids were never in any danger. Maybe they'll just charge you with trespassing, and not with the bookful of other charges that they could throw at you, for this."

Okay, this has me laughing so hard my wife gave me an odd look!

And yes, that is the perfect counter to him. No longer NIB indeed!

I'm glad you laughed.

This is meant to be a humorous issue, but as I have said, I am not really experienced at writing comedy so I was not sure if it would be funny to anyone but me.

A flying kick in the nuts is usually pretty funny, but I don't think that's Abi's style. :D

Steven-Vincent
No it is not her style.

Thanks. I worked hard on trying to make the expressions both expressive and subtle. Can't always get it how I want but I think this page came out OK.

Just how long will the fuel last in his backpack? This could be solved just by Abbey not letting go.
Steven-Vincent 11th Apr 2017, 8:57 PM edit delete reply
Steven-Vincent
His fuel will last for a while.

Capey's not all THAT incompetent. Well, Kinda.
Speedy Marsh 14th Apr 2017, 3:29 PM edit delete reply
Lol. I can see it now... His fuel runs out, and he's left hanging on to the cape.

"Do you still want the cape? I could let it go. You're right. I could get another."

"NOOO!!! DON'T LET GO!!! Just put me down gently, and I'll let go! YOU WIN!"

"Okay, if you insist."
*gently deposits him in the police department courtyard*

Heh. Yeah it could have happened like that. We'll have to wait and see what actually occurs.
